Info

Claire Lavabre is a French designer and photographer based in Copenhagen. After graduating with honors from ENSCI/Les Ateliers in 2012, she began collaborating with designers, architects, and artists such as Inga Sempé, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and Leon Ransmeier. Her work spans a wide range of projects, from object design to exhibition scenography and photography. From 2017 to 2018, she was a resident fellow at the Villa Medici, Académie de France in Rome. Alongside these experiences, she founded her own studio, developing personal projects as well as commissioned work. Since 2025, she continues her design and photography practice in Denmark while working as a designer for HAY.

Her design work is careful and precise, guided by a sensitive and rigorous approach that emphasizes clarity of construction, legibility of form, and exploration of material properties. She favors simple, refined combinations of raw or unexpected materials to create objects that are both functional and poetic. With close attention to materials and processes, her work encourages a fresh appreciation of everyday objects, revealing their beauty through simplicity and precision.

In addition to design, she practices photography with a particular focus on objects, manufacturing processes, and landscapes. She is fascinated by light, how it interacts with surfaces, clings or detaches, and shapes the composition. Photography plays an essential role in her process, serving both as an analytical tool and a visual language, allowing her to reveal the subtle qualities of objects, materials, and environments with precision and nuance.
